There are two branches for ubermix, leading-edge and stable, which correspond with Ubuntu's regular and "Long Term Support" (LTS) releases. In general, for most applications we recommend using the most recent release available. While at certain times this version might be the "stable" release, keep in mind that "stable" in the open source world means "doesn't change much" and is often code for "old". As such, don't be afraid to use a non-"stable" version. They are just as reliable as "stable" versions.

Leading-edge Branch - Ubuntu intermediary (18 month) releases: Stable Branch - Ubuntu LTS (3 year) release:
Ubuntu 11.04 (Natty Narwhal) - Updates through Oct 2012

0.913 (pending)
Added an "Expert" option to the install key to manually set device host names
Created an ubermix install CD, for older systems that won't boot from USB - http://wiki.ubermix.org/page/CD_Install

Cleaned up firmware for older kernel versions in /lib/firmware
Major kernel update to v3.x for better compat w/ Sandy Bridge, Cedar Trail, etc.

Removed compat-wireless tarball/lib as it is no longer needed.
Removed extra gb help files for libreoffice.
Removed Dell Duo mods from default image, in favor of updated packages/instructions on the wiki.
Updated LibreOffice to 3.5. Lots of great new features, and fixes save docs to Windows share issue some users have experienced.
Added LibreOffice Base (database) app to the default install.
Increased default memory settings in LibreOffice to boost performance/reduce startup times.
Fixed LibreOffice video integration issue (libstdc++.so.6 ure lib swap).

Created a special kernel build for Intel Atom N2x00 (Cedar Trail) devices.
Added Xorg modesetting driver for better fallback performance on hardware without a dedicated video driver.
Firefox and Chrome updates.
Applied latest ubuntu updates.

Please note: Due to design complexities/special requirements of the newest Intel Atom N2x00 (Cedar Trail) devices, until further notice there will be two separate downloadable builds of ubermix - a General Availability (GA) version for most devices, and a special Cedar Trail (CT) version for new Cedar Trail devices (mostly netbooks). Please be sure to download the correct version. When possible, the two versions will be consolidated into one.

Please also note: Due to the necessary increase in the size of the base system partition, ubermix versions 0.913 and up will not be installable on EeePC 90x series devices, as they lack the appropriate available space on their primary drive. Please download and install version 0.912 or earlier on these devices - for now. Rest assured that when ubermix v1.x arrives there will be a small build available for devices with 4 gigabytes or less on their primary drive.
